At Balmoral we are aware of the importance of protecting and improving our environment. This is why we have implemented a number of initiatives designed to tackle climate change and ensure sustainable continuity.

At Balmoral we have 115 hectares of organic vineyard.

A number of actions must be carried out in an organic vineyard in order to comply with regulations, such as:

• Fertilization using organically sourced materials such as compost, green fertilizers, harvest waste, etc.
• Pest and disease control is carried out through proper plant nutrition, creating conditions to foster the development of insects and other organisms that help control them or which prevent the proliferation of pests and diseases, in addition to the use of physical control methods (capturing insects with traps) and permitted substances (sulfur).
• Increasing diversity both within and around the vineyard, via different plants that stimulate diversity in general and specifically of beneficial organisms, favoring the best climate conditions for vine development.
• Yield control to obtain quality fruit.
• Careful management practices during production, harvest and winemaking.

We have reforested over 300 hectares in our property El Moralejo.

Reforestation helps to combat climate change, thanks to the absorption by the trees of carbon dioxide, thus reducing global warming.

At Balmoral we have 2 reservoirs to store the water used for the vineyard.

The reservoirs help to make the best use of water, collecting rainwater and ground water.

Drip irrigation systems ensure efficient use of water, making the best use of this resource and preventing overuse.

We have a water treatment plant to enable us to reuse water for other purposes, such as irrigation.

The waste generated by our activity is deposited in special sites for subsequent treatment.
